Education Experience
My educational experiences led me to become an advocate for all children – paying close attention to students who have experienced adversity. My teaching experience spans all grade levels and public school, private school, outdoor education, and a residential juvenile justice facility. Along with teaching, I have served as an instructional coach, science coordinator, assistant principal, principal, and Director of Special Services and Director of Multi-tiered System of Supports. I am certified and credentialed in elementary education, middle school ELA and science, K-12 Reading Teacher, TESOL, Gifted and Talented, elementary and secondary administration, and superintendent – an have attained a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Clemson University.
Trauma Experience
In addition to working with students in various settings, I bring practical and lived experiences of working with foster children with multiple cultural backgrounds, as well as raising four adoptive children. My research includes teaching executive function skills, resiliency, mindfulness, behavioral interventions, as well as impacting (and changing) adult mindsets. I am a certified trainer of Professional Crisis Management, Trauma Informed Practices, and Rage to Reason. As you read through the blogs, you will also note my experiences of trauma.
